Introduction and Commitment to Academic Integrity

The Journal of Advanced Electrical and Electronic Engineering (JAEEE) is committed to maintaining high standards of academic honesty, originality, research integrity, and responsible scholarly publishing. Plagiarism in any form undermines the credibility of scientific research, violates academic ethical principles, and is strictly prohibited.

JAEEE requires all submitted manuscripts to represent original scholarly contributions and to acknowledge appropriately the ideas, methods, data, findings, and intellectual contributions of other researchers.

The journal's plagiarism prevention and investigation procedures are informed by internationally recognized publication ethics guidance, including the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the transparency standards promoted by the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).

Definition and Forms of Plagiarism

Plagiarism refers to presenting another person's intellectual work, ideas, text, data, methods, images, technical designs, or research findings as one's own without appropriate acknowledgment or authorization.

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to, the following practices:

  • Direct Plagiarism: Reproducing text, equations, explanations, or research material from another source without proper citation or acknowledgment.

  • Paraphrasing Plagiarism: Rewriting or restructuring another author's ideas, arguments, technical explanations, or findings without appropriate attribution.

  • Mosaic Plagiarism: Combining copied or closely paraphrased material from multiple sources without adequate acknowledgment.

  • Self-Plagiarism and Redundant Publication: Reusing substantial portions of previously published work without appropriate citation, disclosure, or justification.

  • Data and Results Plagiarism: Presenting experimental measurements, simulation outputs, statistical findings, datasets, or research results obtained by other researchers as original work.

  • Image and Figure Plagiarism: Reproducing engineering diagrams, graphs, circuit schematics, photographs, technical illustrations, or other visual materials without appropriate acknowledgment or permission where required.

  • Software and Source Code Plagiarism: Reusing computer programs, algorithms, scripts, simulation models, or software code developed by others without proper attribution or compliance with applicable licensing conditions.

  • Unauthorized Use of Unpublished Research: Using confidential manuscripts, unpublished findings, research proposals, or information obtained through peer review without permission.

  • Improper Citation and Attribution: Providing misleading references, omitting relevant sources, or presenting borrowed intellectual contributions without sufficient acknowledgment.

All authors are expected to follow recognized academic standards of attribution, originality, and responsible research conduct.

Plagiarism Detection and Originality Screening

JAEEE evaluates submitted manuscripts for originality as part of its editorial screening and publication ethics procedures.

The editorial team may use recognized text-similarity detection software, including Turnitin, iThenticate, or equivalent tools, to identify potentially problematic overlap with previously published or publicly available material.

Similarity reports are evaluated by the editorial team to distinguish legitimate academic overlap from possible plagiarism.

A similarity percentage alone does not establish research misconduct. Editorial assessment considers the nature, extent, source, and context of overlapping material, including properly cited quotations, standard technical terminology, methodological descriptions, references, and other legitimate similarities.

JAEEE does not treat any single similarity percentage as conclusive evidence of plagiarism.

Manuscripts containing substantial unattributed overlap, inappropriate text reuse, or other evidence of plagiarism may be returned for clarification, revision, or rejection following editorial assessment.

Author Responsibilities

All authors submitting manuscripts to JAEEE are responsible for ensuring that their work complies with the journal's originality and publication ethics requirements.

Authors must:

  • Submit original scholarly research and accurately represent their intellectual contributions.

  • Properly cite all sources of text, ideas, research methods, datasets, technical designs, software, images, and experimental findings.

  • Disclose any previous publication, conference presentation, preprint, thesis, or other dissemination of substantially related research.

  • Avoid duplicate submission, redundant publication, plagiarism, and inappropriate text recycling.

  • Obtain necessary permissions for copyrighted materials and comply with applicable software and data licenses.

  • Ensure that figures, tables, simulation outputs, and experimental findings are accurately presented.

  • Provide complete and accurate authorship information.

  • Cooperate with reasonable editorial inquiries concerning originality or research integrity.

Authors remain responsible for the originality and accuracy of their manuscripts, including content prepared or revised with artificial intelligence assistance.

Handling of Suspected Plagiarism

Where plagiarism is suspected during manuscript submission, editorial screening, peer review, or after publication, JAEEE will assess the concern fairly, confidentially, and on the basis of available evidence.

The journal's procedures are informed by relevant COPE guidance and flowcharts.

COPE Flowcharts: https://publicationethics.org/guidance/Flowcharts

Depending on the nature and seriousness of the concern, the editorial process may include:

  • Examination of the manuscript and relevant similarity reports.

  • Identification and assessment of potentially unattributed sources.

  • Requests for clarification, supporting documentation, or an explanation from the authors.

  • Consultation with relevant editors, reviewers, or independent subject specialists.

  • Evaluation of the authors' responses and supporting evidence.

  • A documented editorial decision based on the findings.

Possible outcomes include a request for correction or revision, rejection of the manuscript, or further investigation.

For serious or repeated misconduct, the journal may notify relevant institutions or research organizations and consider proportionate restrictions on future submissions, subject to a fair and documented procedure.

Authors must be given an appropriate opportunity to respond to substantive allegations before a final misconduct determination is made.

Plagiarism Identified After Publication

If plagiarism or significant unattributed overlap is identified in an article that has already been published, JAEEE will investigate the matter and determine an appropriate response based on the seriousness of the findings.

Possible editorial actions include:

  • Correction: Where the issue is limited and the reliability of the scholarly work can be preserved through an appropriate correction.

  • Expression of Concern: Where serious questions have been raised but the investigation remains incomplete or the available evidence is inconclusive.

  • Retraction: Where substantial plagiarism, redundant publication, or other serious misconduct makes the published article unreliable or its continued presentation as an original scholarly contribution inappropriate.

The journal will consider relevant COPE retraction guidance when determining the appropriate action.

COPE Retraction Guidance: https://publicationethics.org/retraction-guidelines

Published correction, expression-of-concern, and retraction notices will be clearly identified and linked to the affected article.

The journal will seek to preserve the transparency and integrity of the scholarly record rather than silently removing published material.

Appeals Procedure

Authors have the right to appeal editorial decisions relating to suspected plagiarism or research misconduct.

An appeal must be submitted in writing and should include a clear explanation of the grounds for reconsideration together with relevant supporting evidence.

Appeals will be reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief or another appropriately authorized senior editor who was not directly responsible for the original decision, wherever practicable.

Where necessary, independent expert advice may be obtained to ensure an impartial assessment.

Appeals will be considered according to the journal's established Complaints and Appeals Policy, and the final outcome will be communicated to the corresponding author.

Education and Prevention

JAEEE recognizes that plagiarism prevention requires clear editorial policies, responsible authorship practices, appropriate research training, and consistent scholarly standards.

The journal promotes academic integrity through:

  • Clear manuscript preparation and author guidelines.

  • Transparent originality and plagiarism screening procedures.

  • Guidance on proper citation and acknowledgment.

  • Editorial and reviewer awareness of publication ethics.

  • Encouragement of responsible research data management and transparent reporting.
