Abstract

Climate change poses significant threats to coastal zones worldwide, resulting in sea-level rise, increased frequency of extreme weather events, and accelerated coastal erosion. Coastal engineering structures, designed to protect infrastructure and human settlements, are increasingly vulnerable under changing climate conditions. This study reviews the impacts of climate change on coastal engineering structures, emphasizing structural integrity, design challenges, and adaptive strategies suitable for the Pakistani coastline. Empirical data, climate projections, and case studies from Pakistan's coastal regions are examined. The findings highlight the need for resilient, adaptable designs and integrated coastal zone management to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change on critical infrastructure.
